A Recap of the Danville Fall DAO

Thank you City of Danville VA!

City Manager Ken Larking, Deputy City Manager Earl Reynolds, and Assistant to the City Manager Amanda Paez hosted the DAO’s for our Fall meeting in the great City of Danville on October 24, 2025!  We had a great turnout with 30 DAO’s plus Danville staff at the new Caesars Resort.  Our farthest DAO traveling 277 miles!

The agenda, venue, conversations, and food were top notch.  I also want to send a special thanks to the Danville Chief of Police office for a tour of their facility.  I am sure they are regretting letting me shoot their guns, even if they were electronic.  Is this applicable to Nintendo’s Duck Hunt?  I think so.

If you didn’t know, the DAO meetings are a great way for each of us to express our achievement and challenges in the localities we work in, in a judgement-free environment.  Trust me when I say, we all share the same thoughts on those items.  It’s a little eerie when we are in the meeting and one of us says, “you will never guess what a citizen said during citizens time at our last meeting!”  Yep.  We all have stories and I’m thankful for the DAO meetings to let us all know we are not alone.

The next DAO meetings are projected to be:

• Spring 2026 - City of Chesapeake – Laura Fitzpatrick (Deputy City Manager)

• Fall 2026 - Montgomery County – Chris Lawrence (Deputy County Administrator)

• Spring 2027 - City of Poquoson – Tonya O’Connell (Assistant City Manager)

• Fall 2027 – NEED A VOLUNTEER!

See you at the Winter Conference!

Todd Kilduff, P.E., Deputy County Administrator in Hanover County
