Certified Public Manager Certificate: New Certificate Program at UVA

Are you ready to enhance your leadership skills as a public manager? Through UVA’s certificate program, you can become a certified public manager in only eight months.  

Designed for managers in public administration roles at the local, state and federal levels as well as in the nonprofit sector, UVA offers the only program in Virginia aligned with the National Certified Public Manager Consortium (NCPMC). 

In eight learning modules delivered through a blend of in-person and online formats, you’ll dive deep into seven core competencies identified by the NCPMC, including:  

• Personal and organizational integrity 

• Managing work 

• Leading people 

• Developing self 

• Systemic integration 

• Public service focus 

• Change leadership   

At completion, you’ll walk away with: 

• In-depth experience applying concepts learned to a capstone project 

• A certificate from the University of Virginia 

• A nationally recognized credential through the NCPMC 

• Eligibility to become a member of the American Academy of Certified Public Managers
