The Final Pat’s PEACE December 2023

With Pat’s move to North Carolina, in accordance with our VLGMA by-laws, the Nominating Committee was responsible for recommending to the VLGMA Officers someone to fill the unexpired term of President.  The Officers were then to agree on a successor and have the decision ratified by the VLGMA Board.  This has all been done and I am pleased to announce that I will be stepping back into the role of President for the remainder of this year.  This will allow each of the other officers to complete their terms this year before moving up in a typical fashion next year.

Pat did a fantastic job as President and we certainly will miss him here in Virginia. We wish him much success in Winston Salem.  I also want to recognize the other officers for their unwavering support for the Association and their dedication to making this transition as smooth and efficient as possible for the Association.  Debbie Kendall and I have had many discussions and she has always expressed a desire, even from the beginning of her term as Secretary, to have the full experiences of each officer position.  This will allow her to continue her preparations as President-Elect for a full year as she moves into the President role next year.

Pat shared with the board that this transition gives him the “peace” of knowing that he is leaving VLGMA in great hands this year and for many years to follow.

I look forward to stepping back in as President for the remainder of the year. Our Leadership is solid and committed to making VLGMA the best that it can be. In the coming months this article will transition back to Tim’s Thoughts and I am working on a slight new angle that I think you will enjoy.

I wish each of you a joyous holiday season filled with warmth, laughter, and special time with your friends and family.

Please welcome the following new VLGMA member:

David Lansdell, Special Assistant to Council Chief of Staff, City of Richmond
